Fly Fishing Rods

Fly rods are where Walton Rods started. For more than a decade, we’ve built them around a simple idea: a fly rod should communicate with the angler. You should be able to feel the rod load, feel the cast develop and know when it’s time to move the line forward. That philosophy is behind both of our fly rod series, but the Avari and C9 deliver it in two very different ways. The Avari is a true medium-fast action rod with a full-flex backbone. It loads deeper into the blank, producing a smooth, controlled casting stroke with progressive power when you need it. Available in 5wt, 6wt and 8wt, the Avari covers everything from trout and bass to larger streamers, steelhead, carp and light saltwater. The C9 is lighter in feel, with a medium-fast action and responsive tip-flex design. It loads higher in the blank than the Avari, giving it a quicker, more precise feel while still letting you feel the rod work through the cast. The C9 is available in a 4wt for dry-fly fishing, a versatile 5wt, and a more powerful 7wt for streamers, poppers and larger fish. Neither series was designed around exaggerated stiffness, complicated technology claims or fly-rod science that doesn't matter once you're standing in the water. They're two different actions built around the same goal: a great fly rod should feel good in your hand and make casting more enjoyable. Built around the cast. Built to fish.

For all the waters we fish

“The Avari has some backbone. The tip is snappy and allows guests to punch hoppers into a stiff breeze. ”

I also dig the color and the handle has gotten several compliments. It's easier in the hand than other rods I have. That thicker cork makes a big difference at the end of the day. I don't see folks shaking their hands out like I do with other rods."
